PSYCHIATRIST - CHILD
Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.
Premium Pay- Bilingual pay:
Qualified employees who meet the criteria found ( page 16 ) shall receive an additional seventy $0.70 cents per hour for all hours paid - Board Certification pay:
Employees assigned on a regular, full-time basis in this classification, who are Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, shall receive, in addition to his or her salary, the equivalent of $1,000 monthly
- Five days Conference Leave for Continuing Medical Education paid leave per year
- Educational and Professional Reimbursement of $10,000 per year
- No On-Call Responsibilities
- Flexible work schedules may be available
- Psychiatrist Educational Loan Repayment Program:
Psychiatrists employed at least half time in regular full-time position in all divisions of Behavioral Health Services, excluding Correctional Health Services, are eligible to receive up to $22,500 per payment through this program; with a maximum of ten payments. This program will remain in effect as long as Mental Health Services Act funding is available. The County and HCA are under no obligation to continue funding this program should MHSA funding cease for this program. - Vacation & Healthcare Leave (OCEA, Non-Management) – You begin accruing vacation and healthcare leave from your first day on the job. The following are approximations of accrual rates during each 80-hour pay period:
- Leave Progression 1 (0 to 6,240 service hours ~ first 3 years)
- Vacation Accrual – 3 hours and 4 minutes per pay period (Approx. 2 weeks per year)
- Healthcare Leave – 2 hours and 46 minutes per pay period (Approx. 72 hrs. per year)
- Leave Progression 2 (6,241 to 20,800 service hours ~ after 3 to 10 years)
- Vacation Accrual – 4 hours and 36 minutes per pay period (Approx. 3 weeks per year)
- Healthcare Leave – 3 hours and 42 minutes per pay period (Approx. 96 hrs. per year)
- Leave Progression 3 (20,801 and above service hours ~ after 10 years)
- Vacation Accrual – 6 hours and 9 minutes per pay period (Approx. 4 weeks per year)
- Healthcare Leave – 3 hours and 42 minutes per pay period (Approx. 96 hrs. per year)
- Leave Progression 1 (0 to 6,240 service hours ~ first 3 years)
- 12 Paid Holidays Per Year

This recruitment will establish an Open eligible list and will be used to fill current and future Psychiatrist positions within the Health Care Agency. This recruitment may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County.

These service areas provide a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care.
