Medication Technician - Part Time

Overview

Clearwater Living is looking for a part-time Memory Support Medication Technician at Clearwater at North Tustin in Santa Ana, CA. The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physicians with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

Base pay range: $20.00/hr - $21.50/hr

Sundays and Mondays 6am-2:30pm

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and within the scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s) why
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verify dosages with physician prior to dispensing
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills and prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance
• Participate in narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities when needed
• Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect, personal dignity, safety and confidentiality
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given
• Assist residents in daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
• Transport residents as necessary following safety and lifting techniques

• High School Diploma or GED required
• A minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required
• Background clearances as required by government regulations
• Must meet health requirements, including TB
