This position is the primary financial leadership role for a long-established, privately held company. The Controller works directly with the Owner/President and is a key advisor in financial, operational, and compliance matters. This is a long-term, career-position role intended for someone seeking stability, trust, and professional autonomy rather than frequent job changes.
Education & Credentials- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- CPA license required or strongly preferred
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader
- Experience working closely with ownership or executive leadership
- Background in closely held or multi-entity businesses a plus
- Oversee all general accounting functions in accordance with GAAP
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, and financial statement preparation
- Perform cost accounting and financial analysis to support operations
- Support accounting and reporting across multiple related entities
- Oversee payroll processing (ADP experience preferred)
- Manage quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
- File annual property tax statements, quarterly sales and use tax filings, and other required governmental reports
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, financial analysis)
- Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software
- Microsoft Word for correspondence and reporting
- Perform select human resources and administrative functions in coordination with ownership
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation
- Ensure accuracy, organization, and timely completion of all financial responsibilities
- High integrity and discretion
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, owner-led environment
- Interested in a long-term role with professional stability
