Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team at Orange County High. The ideal candidate will support students' academic, social, and emotional development by providing guidance, resources, and interventions. This full-time position requires a proactive approach to fostering a positive school environment and collaborating with educators, parents, and the community to enhance student well-being.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, social, and emotional challenges.
- Develop and implement comprehensive counseling programs that align with the school’s mission and goals.
- Assist students in setting academic and career goals, including college and vocational planning.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate interventions and resources.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation among students to promote a harmonious school environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success and well-being.
- Organize and conduct workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, study skills, and mental health awareness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and mental health.
- Participate in school committees and community outreach programs to promote student support services.
- Master’s degree in School Counseling
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
- Prior experience in a school counseling role preferred.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and educational practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in using technology and software related to counseling and student management.
