About This Role

As a Youth Development Program Specialist you will provide direct support to the IGNITE Youth Leadership Program site in Santa Ana at Kid Works, the Site Director, and the youth leaders. You will coordinate, schedule, and manage after‑school sports programs, community engagement initiatives, training, recruitment, and selection of teenage youth leaders, conduct faith and leadership workshops, and maintain a positive faith‑filled presence in the community.

The role also requires us to familiarize ourselves with the program manual, perform occasional administrative updates, proofread, collect data, report, and handle social media content.

IGNITE Youth Leadership Program

The IGNITE program is a sports and leadership ministry that empowers middle‑ and high‑school youth to coach and mentor younger peers through activities such as soccer, waste‑basket tennis, chair hockey, scooter ball, and other interactive games. Weekly classes and workshops focus on prayer, faith, leadership, community engagement, and workforce development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Logistics & Leadership: Provide support and co‑lead the IGNITE program, including after‑school sports, team meetings, recruitment, student discipline, partner events, museum field trips, summer team building, and faith development initiatives.
  • Program Manual: Proofread, update, and translate the IGNITE Youth Leadership Program Manual into Spanish, refine content, and keep all documents current.
  • In‑school

    Activities:

Coordinate, supervise, and implement IGNITE Club classes (30‑45 min, Mon‑Thu) at designated Santa Ana Unified School District elementary schools; cultivate relationships with administrators and teachers and research innovative games.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Site Director on curriculum creation, student engagement, community outreach, parent presentations, and culture maintenance.
  • Team Supervision: Co‑direct and supervise a 10‑15 member youth leadership team, managing schedules, equipment setup, prayers, and game ideas.
  • Communication: Maintain consistent communication with all IGNITE leaders, Site Directors, Fireside Director, Founder, and partner administrators.
  • Community Engagement Events: Oversee four (4) joint community events (“IGNITE in the Streets”) with the Kid Works Family and Community Engagement Department, handling promotions and event execution.
  • Empowerment Nights: Attend monthly IGNITE Youth Empowerment Nights, facilitate Bible topics, introductions to guest speakers, and recruitment of new participants.
  • Team Meetings: Lead and facilitate discussions on leadership and faith.
  • Site Representation: Serve as the primary point of contact for the Santa Ana Kid Works Site Director in their absence.
  • Outreach: Engage weekly in community outreach to increase brand awareness of IGNITE YLP, WeShare, and Fireside Ministries through emails, phone calls, texts, and in‑person visits.
  • Partnership Stewardship: Nurture collaboration with Kid Works, CDC, and other partners, ensuring unity and mutual respect.
  • Administration: Handle all program communications, create marketing materials in line with IGNITE branding, manage waivers and liability forms, and track attendance for in‑school programs, reporting to the L10 staff meetings and end‑of‑semester reports.
  • Field Trips: Co‑plan and coordinate all field trip details, research new workforce connections, and supervise youth leaders on trips.
