COLTS Part-Time Micro Transit Driver

General Definition and Mission

The County of Lee Transit System is a comingled transit system that provides paratransit and micro transit transportation services for the public and human service organizations in Lee County. The mission of COLTS is to provide safe and reliable transportation to the citizens of Lee County.

COLTS is seeking qualified applicants for part-time transit drivers for the Buzzline Micro-Transit operation. The essential functions of the job are to drive a micro-transit vehicle for demand response service transporting individuals to and from various locations within the City of Sanford. Additional responsibilities include utilizing CTS Trip Master software on a tablet to maintain a variety of records such as fare collection, number of passengers per day, mileage, and vehicle maintenance.

Independent judgment must be exercised in handling unusual situations arising with passengers. Driver may operate a lift equipped with ADA compliant vehicle. Employees receive direction and route assignments from COLTS dispatch and CTS Application.

• Graduation from high school and experience in the operation of large automotive equipment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft computer applications is a plus.

• Employees must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of North Carolina.
• Employees must be able to successfully complete training in passenger assistance, defensive driving, and first aid. Training is provided by the employer.
• Must have a good driving record. Applicants are required to submit a copy of their driving record for the last three years along with the employment application. Driving records may be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Pre-employment drug testing, as well as random drug testing throughout employment tenure, are required under the regulation of the Federal Transit Administration.

Position will remain posted until it is filled. Pre-employment drug screening and NC SBI Electronic Fingerprinting and Criminal History Record Check are required prior to employment.
