Job Overview
Part‑time Culinary Lab Assistant at Seminole State College of Florida. Responsible for taking and serving orders, preparing food, maintaining cleanliness, and managing inventory.
Responsibilities- Takes customer orders in computer system, receives payment, prepares requested food including grilling/frying.
- Plans and manages orders to ensure items are completed and served at the same time.
- Assembles orders on trays or bags as requested by customer.
- Cleans food preparation equipment and restaurant areas.
- Maintains supply inventory and stocks shelves.
- Stamps time/date and rotates food in coolers.
- Processes and prepares large orders for events.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or acceptable equivalent diploma.
- One year experience as a culinary lab assistant, restaurant cook, prep cook, or similar role.
- Certificate in Culinary Arts.
- Work quickly and multitask during busy periods.
- Friendly, professional, courteous demeanor.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of industry best practices in food preparation, food service, and sanitation techniques.
- Input orders into a computer system.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Commitment to multicultural environment.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity, good palate, physical sense of taste for different foods.
- Travel between campuses and local destinations.
- Work in laboratory and field environments.
- Flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Work with hazardous chemicals, materials, living and preserved specimen, waste, pressurized systems, mechanical instruments.
- May lift, move, push up to 55 lbs with assistance.
$15.58 Hourly up to 26 hours per week.
Conditions of EmploymentMust reside in Florida at the time of hire. Background investigations and fingerprinting per Florida law and college policy. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting for all new employees and rehired employees with break in service one year or more. Background checks include, but not limited to, criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.
