We are seeking a Farming On Water Manager to lead safe, efficient marine farming operations in Golden Bay.
Role Description
As the Farming On Water Manager for Golden Bay, you’ll lead safe, efficient marine farming operations, ensuring production targets, compliance standards and quality expectations are met. You’ll oversee on-water and land-based activities, working closely with our remote Farming Manager and Havelock operations teams. This is a full-time leadership role based in Golden Bay
- Ensure farming operations meet safety, compliance and Sanford standards
- Lead daily Golden farming activities and farm checks
- Manage vessels, equipment, maintenance and MOSS requirements
- Lead and develop vessel crews and shore-based staff
- Maintain strong relationships with growers, suppliers and partners
- Plan farming schedules for seeding, harvesting and spat catching
- Monitor and maintain farm assets and equipment
- Manage rosters, budgets, reporting and continuous improvement
- Deliver production targets, quality standards and cost outcomes
- Support Golden Bay FSS operations and accurate documentation
What you need to be successful in this role
- Tertiary qualification in Marine Science or similar
- Seafood or marine industry experience
- 3+ years’ leadership experience in operational roles
- Strong people leadership and coaching skills
- Experience with vessel operations or aquaculture (preferred)
- Understanding of continuous improvement practices
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Strong focus on safety, compliance and operational discipline
- Able to work in changing conditions and manage multiple priorities
- Passion for farming, people and quality
