Overview
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of ADULT PROBATION OFFICER ASSIGNED TO EMPACT.
The position of Adult Probation Officer assigned to EMPACT is responsible for professional work in monitoring court-ordered probationers, which may include high-risk offenders and/or offenders eligible for release from jail awaiting court disposition. The hours for the position are 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Salary is negotiable based upon related training, education, and experience.

- EMPACT coverage 24/7, 365 days per year
- Install, monitor, and oversee all administrative aspects of the PTR/GPS program
- Analyze Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) electronic monitoring reports
- Use basic hand tools to install, uninstall and maintain offender tracking equipment
- Travel within Florida to homes, hospitals, jails, etc. to resolve/retrieve GPS issues
- Maintain inventory of all GPS related hardware at 6 different facilities
- May be assigned operational projects at the discretion of the Supervisors
- May be tasked with training responsibilities of new hires as well as presentations within the community or agency
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required

The position will be assigned to the John
E. Polk Correction Facility and the hours will be Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field
- One (1) year experience in comparable training, experience and education
- Direct experience with probation investigations and/or supervision/case management preferred
- Must become NCIC/FCIC (National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center), certified via an FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), background screening and FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement), qualification and examination within six (6) months of employment
- Work an “on call” status to include nights, weekends and holidays on a rotation schedule
- Internal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary period
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and calls for service during times of an emergency.
Ability to learn the basic principles of Probation Division functions, services, and programs; to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Present clear and concise written and oral reports in English, using proper sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
Have the ability to multi-task, work on multiple cases and projects at the same time, and ability to maintain accurate, well-written case files.
Resolve conflict and crisis intervention; be sensitive to change and responsive to the evolving goals, priorities, and needs.
Have knowledge of the criminal justice system, including terminology, processes, and procedures; court procedures and legal terms; understanding of Florida Statutes as they pertain to probation; case management methods and techniques; basic electronic data input and computer technology, including Microsoft Office products.
