Overview

DESCRIPTION: The Director, Foundation Finance and Operations leads and oversees the processing and reconciliation of the general ledger, financial contributions, investments, and other financial records. Monitors and enforce federal and state regulations, College and Foundation policies and procedures to ensure safekeeping and proper record keeping of financial resources. Supervises a team with functional responsibility for accounting and operations.

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION: The Director, Foundation Finance and Operations leads and oversees the processing and reconciliation of the general ledger, financial contributions, investments, and other financial records. Monitors and enforce federal and state regulations, College and Foundation policies and procedures to ensure safekeeping and proper record keeping of financial resources. Supervises a team with functional responsibility for accounting and operations.

  • Leads and oversee the processing and reconciliation of the general ledger, financial contributions, and other financial records to ensure internal control, legal compliance, safeguarding of assets, and accounting accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepares and manages the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports, variance analysis, and specialized reports.
  • Provides data-driven insights, trends, and reports to assist in financial management, decision making, and/or historical tracking.
  • Develops the annual Foundation budget in collaboration with leadership.
  • Manages cash flow and liquidity to meet operational obligations and program requirements.
  • Supervises staff, including scheduling, mentoring, coaching, training, development, and performance evaluation to ensure departmental efficiency.
  • Manages the reconciliation and allocation of investment activity across multiple fund pools.
  • Monitors portfolio performance against the Investment Policy Statement and ensures the accurate distribution of earnings to endowed accounts.
  • Leads fiscal year end closing activities and serves as the primary liaison for external auditors.
  • Oversees federal and state tax compliance, including the preparation of IRS Form 990, 1099s, and gift receipting requirements.
  • Establishes and manages relationships with external professional services, including bankers, auditors, investment managers, and insurance agents.
  • Leads Request for Proposal (RFP) processes to ensure high quality service and cost effectiveness.
  • Oversees day-to-day administrative operations, including payroll, procurement, and office resource management.
  • Provides financial assistance and tracking for all phases of Foundation events, especially Dream Gala and Dream Cup.
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in accounting, business, finance or related field.
  • Four years of experience in accounting, business, or finance, preferably in not-for-profit, governmental, or college/university accounting.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in accounting, business, finance or related field.
  • Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Five years of experience in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge.
  • Experience working in the Florida College System.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and other accounting principles, procedures, and practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, concepts, and proposals.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word); strong knowledge and comprehension of accounting applications with the ability to provide accurate and timely financial reports; and the ability to become proficient in videoconferencing applications, including Teams/Zoom.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and effectively manage projects.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to create new and innovative solutions, and to anticipate outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced multi-priority environment.
  • Ability to successfully develop and manage relationships both within and outside of the College and Foundation and treat confidential information with sensitivity.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and prioritize workload and responsibilities of others to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional, courteous demeanor.
