fms/ams engineer - district five / district traffic operations

this position oversees the district’s retiming program and provides strategic guidance for the arterial management system (ams). Responsibilities include assessing existing signal operations, developing improved timing plans to enhance traffic progression, and supporting statewide transportation systems management & operations initiatives. The role also contributes to project delivery and evaluates emerging technologies to advance the ams program.

develops and manages professional and contractual services contracts and other types of agreements that support traffic operations functions (including, but not limited to, road ranger incident management service patrol program, rapid incident scene clearance (risc) program and traffic incident management (tim) teams. Includes developing documentation for contract funding, rfps and related documents; participates on technical review committees (trc); evaluates contract work products;

evaluates consultants; and processes/approves invoices.

develops and programs freeway management system (fms)/arterial management system (ams) projects that facilitate operation of freeway/arterial management systems and incident management.
