We are hiring for one position— based at our Oviedo Campus. Schedule and hours are as follows:

Description

The part-time Librarian, Research and Instruction provides professional library services in an online and campus environment with emphasis on reference and instruction. Creates and delivers instructional and training materials in a variety of formats. Collaborates with other academic support services staff across the campus.

Essential Functions
  • Assists library users with identification, location, interpretation, and use of library resources in electronic and print formats.
  • Provides library services and back‑up support (e.g., greets patrons, checks materials in/out, assists with technology questions) for staff duties at the Information Services Desk.
  • Teaches in a classroom setting using a variety of instructional approaches and technologies; plans lessons and assesses learning outcomes of instruction sessions; determines appropriate format for delivery of materials.
  • Reviews and selects/de‑selects materials in assigned collection sections.
  • Assists with developing library services, resources, and materials for access and instruction for classroom, online, electronic, multi‑media, and interactive environments.
  • Communicates and collaborates with faculty.
  • Participates in setting goals and objectives for library services.
  • Maintains records, reports, and statistics with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a regionally or nationally accredited institution in Library/information science or related area.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with reference services and information literacy in an academic library.
  • Experience with online and automated library systems, electronic information sources, and database research.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trends in electronic resources and technology applications in libraries.
  • Maintains familiarity with current theory, practices, standard procedures, and trends in library services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop instructional resources for a variety of teaching and learning pedagogies.
  • Excellent Microsoft 365 Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel), desktop publishing or graphics applications, and the ability to learn new applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and public relations communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a complex, team‑based environment and with diverse user groups.
  • Strong understanding of the key issues and trends in the design and delivery of library instruction in support of the academic mission of the college.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Committed to working in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
Work Environment And Special Considerations
  • Works inside a library/office environment.
  • Airborne dust and mold, common to a library setting.
  • Requires frequent bending with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
  • Requires the ability to push, pull book carts; bend, stoop, kneel, and reach on occasion, and climb on low stool to reach six‑foot high shelving.

Pay Benefits And Work Schedule

Salary will be $28.13 hourly.
