Position: ESH Regional Manager - U.S. Travel Role

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing ESH policies across project sites. Help lead and mentor ESH professionals and collaborate closely with project staff, trade partners, and management to help deliver predictable construction outcomes.

This position includes extensive travel to project sites as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.

  • Lead, Mentor, and Manage a ESH professionals in your Region providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.

  • Collaborate with project team and trade partners representatives to produce plans for reducing risk, managing safety plans, and integrating our Safety
    360 approach.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations applicable.

  • Help coordinate and plan safety during the pre-mobilization meetings.

  • Ensure that Layton’s PSMP (project specific safety plan) is developed and incorporated into every project. Help assist new team members to understand the PSMP.

  • Manage safety initiatives set forth by the organization.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, regulations, continuously enhance your knowledge and skills in the construction industry.

  • Help team focus on high-risk activities and identify (SIF) serious injury or fatality exposures prior to critical work activities starting.

  • Assists in establishing safety culture that supports our Safety
    360 goals.

  • Manages safety programs on all projects including Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIP), Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP), or other complex risk management projects.

  • Investigate and report all incidents and “near miss/ close call” cases.

  • Coach our field teams and drive engagement in our critical safety process including the daily safety huddles and pre-task plan engagement.

  • Provide regulatory and policy review and interpretation and technical advice.

  • Remain current on all OSHA regulations and ESH Policy changes and update field personnel as needed.

  • Continually reviews leading and lagging indicators to develop strategies to reduce exposures, create learning opportunities, and reduce risk. Share data with VP ESH to develop corporate safety trends.

  • Provides weekly summary to SBU leader and VP ESH for analysis and future safety program planning.

  • Monitors workers’ compensation issues on Layton projects and works closely with the VP ESH on these issues.

  • Conducts incident review meetings with project managers, superintendent, and foremen, and involved employees to debrief and to train on future accident avoidance.

  • Monitor and follows through on Layton safety issues at project sites.

  • Interface with CMs, PMs, Supers, and leadership on various projects to identify, evaluate, and help mitigate hazards.

  • Implement training programs to support the needs of the business and educate our field teams on methods to reduce accidents and injuries.

  • Promote rewards and recognition programs that support Safety
    360.

  • Participates in pre-construction meetings for assigned business unit projects, highlighting project safety needs and issues.

  • Assists with injury management to ensure work status and return to work with trade partners. Follow up with incidents and report internally.

  • The ESH Manager is responsible for field implementation of the safety, health and environmental policies and procedures on all assigned projects either directly or through the ESH Coordinator.

  • Duties to include supervising ESH Project Managers.

  • This position interacts with the SBU’s, craft personnel, site supervision, Human Resources, Marketing, and Accounting to ensure efficient administration of ESH issues.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years in a comparable safety position and/ or field supervision for a commercial general contractor.

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in degree in Environmental Safety & Health or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
