Base pay range$18.75/hr - $24.50/hr
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system and cash register operations.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy under supervision of the pharmacist, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
- Employ pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensure accurate entries, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring drugs, verify medicines, and check for interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow; report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Strictly adhere to the Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Register all sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers in locating products.
- Handle telephone calls not requiring pharmacist attention, including those to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third‑party prescription programs and perform other clerical duties.
- Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals; maintain asset protection techniques; file claims for overages or shortages or damaged goods.
- Assist pharmacy manager and staff pharmacist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service and inventory performance data; reviewing Rx KPIs with Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.
- Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services (e.g., collection and labeling of blood/urine samples) and coordinate with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community by outreach to physicians, nurses, and other providers.
- Support maintenance of the Pharmacy Department; keep stocked, clean, neat, orderly.
- Coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in correct processes and tools to drive efficiency.
- Comply with all policies; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks assigned.
- Maintain PTCB certification through designated training program or state required certification/registration.
- Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager; acquire continuing education credits to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy.
- PTCB certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or locations under a collective bargaining agreement).
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer basic math skills (counting, measuring and weighing medications).
- Prefer basic PC skills (e.g., starting and shutting down computer, using mouse, printing documents, accessing information online).
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
