Overview
Driver/Operator – Bus Driver position in Sandusky, OH. Responsible for safe and comfortable transportation of passengers while upholding professional standards and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Safety-focused operations:
Follow designated routes and schedules, adhere to safety protocols and traffic regulations. - Passenger care:
Provide excellent service, assist passengers, ensure smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation. - Vehicle vigilance:
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report maintenance needs, maintain cleanliness and safety equipment readiness. - Adherence to protocols:
Enforce seat belts, respond to emergencies, and comply with regulatory mandates. - Other duties as required
- 21 years or older
- Valid CDL Class A or B with passenger and airbrake endorsement (remove if not required)
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience (personal or professional)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits Schedule I drugs.
The essential functions require the ability to:
- Work outside in varying temperatures and weather; 100% of the job is outdoors; work alone in remote locations
- Sit for extended periods (6–8 hours), walk long distances, and navigate uneven surfaces
- Push/pull objects, lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance, bend/kneel/crouch to access storage
- Work in heavy traffic and tolerate dust, vehicle fumes, and noise

CDL driver compensation: $21.00 – $23.00 (Union payscale). Starting pay $21.00 with progression to $22.00 over 1 year.
