Position Summary:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Financial Operations for Firelands Health plays a critical leadership role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and supporting the strategic goals of the organization. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborates with leadership, department heads, and external partners to drive financial reporting, performance and compliance.
What you will do:
Position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling activities of Finance/Accounting, Financial Planning and Business Analytics as well as other duties as assigned. Ensure that all policies and procedures formulated and recommended by subordinate professional managers are in accordance with the short- and long-term goals and objectives of the System. Supports the Chief Financial Officer in accomplishing System financial objectives and maintaining timely and compliant financial reporting, both internally and externally.
- What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required;
Master’s degree or CPA preferred. - Minimum of 8 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or hospital settings and/or accounting, audit, consulting firm management experience dedicated to health care provider clients.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare finance, reimbursement models, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other financial systems software (e.g. Meditech, Strata, would be useful).
- A high degree of professional accounting and finance knowledge in order to provide the technical direction and resource background to ensure the development and maintenance of sound and effective accounting and finance systems within the System.
- A high level of analytical ability is required in order to plan, direct and control the financial activities of the System.
- The interpersonal skills to interact effectively in delicate, sensitive and/or complex situations and to make effective presentations before groups, including regulatory bodies.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
- Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, co‑workers and staff, and understand written and oral communication.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes.
- Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.
