Payroll Manager

IVANHOE MINES is looking for a Payroll Manager. Ivanhoe Mines is a leading Canadian mining company committed to becoming a global leader in the supply of critical resources required to transition our world to a low‑carbon, renewable future. Ivanhoe is focused on developing and expanding its four principal mining and exploration projects in Southern Africa. The development of the Kamoa‑Kakula copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Platreef palladium‑rhodium‑platinum‑nickel‑copper‑gold discovery in South Africa, the extensive redevelopment and upgrading of the historic Kipushi zinc‑copper‑ge‑silver mine, also in the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploration on the Western Foreland, near Kamoa‑Kakula.

Play your part in our team succeeding… To manage, optimise and coordinate IVANHOE’s payroll (for nationals and expatriates), ensuring compliance with laws, policy and tax obligations. The Payroll Manager leads a team of specialists based in SA and the DRC, manages payroll audits, facilitates optimal system (Sage) implementation, and supervises and coordinates the payroll administration, processing and reporting functions. The incumbent establishes the labour budget, oversees the termination process and collaborates extensively with HR, Finance and Legal teams to drive optimisation and alignment.

Requirements
  • Honours degree in Finance with HR subjects
  • 8 - 10 years' relevant experience in Finance, with strong payroll exposure in a managerial‑related role involving discrete handling of sensitive, confidential information
  • Experience in the mining environment highly advantageous
  • Fluency in French and English is a must.

  • Enable Payroll Strategy implementation
  • Drive the accuracy and integrity of the Ivanhoe Payroll process
  • Lead and manage Payroll reporting
  • Function as a Payroll subject matter expert
