Head of Data Operations - Data solutions & Data Strategy

A leading national organisation is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Data Management / Operations and Data Strategy to oversee its data operations, compliance, and revenue growth initiatives within a digital services environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree in a relevant field (Postgraduate qualification preferred).
• Minimum 10 years' senior or executive-level experience in a data, IT, or operations-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of data governance, compliance frameworks (incl. POPIA), and stakeholder management.
• Proven leadership in cross-functional team management, strategic planning, and revenue generation.
• Experience in customer relationship management, performance improvement, and innovation.
• Knowledge of organisational effectiveness, HR, finance, project management, and sales functions.
• Willingness to travel nationally and engage at executive level with institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust data management, governance, and quality assurance strategies.
• Ensure data security, accuracy, and legal compliance across platforms and operations.
• Manage key relationships with clients, institutions, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee sales and marketing plans to support service adoption and revenue growth.
• Lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and optimise budgets in partnership with finance, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Drive innovation in digital data services and maintain high standards of client satisfaction.

Key Technical Skill

• Data Governance & Quality: Develop and implement data management policies, ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance (incl. POPIA).
• Information Security: Manage secure data environments aligned with banking-level IT standards.
• IT & Systems Proficiency: Solid understanding of CRM platforms, web-based systems, and data Tools.
• Project Management: Lead data-related projects using structured methodologies.
• Business Intelligence: Use data insights for strategic planning and revenue growth.
• Compliance Management: Ensure all data handling complies with legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Client & Stakeholder Data Operations: Maintain data systems that support effective stakeholder and client engagement.
