Data Support Engineer

Description

Investec Private Bank Sandton is looking for a Data Support Engineer to drive the support and operations functionality of our data capability.

Investec Private Bank is on a dedicated strategy to transform from on-premise to Azure Cloud. This requires a fast-paced project delivery, requiring dedicated focus on operational efficiencies, structure and governance to ensure success.

The core focus of the role is to design, implement and monitor strong data operations, architecture and governance standards aligned to our transformation strategy.

The candidate will be able to own and run an Operations strategy with exposure to data platforms, flows and strategic projects.

• Provide day-to-day support, including standby operations
• Design and drive strong Governance principles
• Engage with Investec business stakeholders, regarding troubleshooting or resolution of technical queries
• Perform routine health checks and system availability
• Perform problem identification and root cause analysis
• Perform Incident and Problem Trend Analysis including the use of monitoring and dashboard tools
• Provide after-hours support for predetermined changes
• Provide after-hours support for system outages
• Provide input into the Evolution of the Ops practice within Investec
• Work within the Service Management disciplines of ITILV3/V4

• 1+ years of Data Operations experience
• Attention to detail
• Strong sense of urgency
• Able to perform root cause analysis and have an understanding of the end to end process
• Excellent communication and partnership skills
• Ability to work in dual environments, on-premise and in Azure Cloud
• ITIL Service Management
• Basic programming language concepts
• SQL management studio and SQL dev Querying
• MWS, Web methods, Bruno, SOAP UI troubleshooting advantageous
• Azure Portal and related experience beneficial
