Intermediate BI Support Engineer

As an Intermediate BI Support Engineer, you'll be part of the BI Managed Support team working closely with the BI Support Product Owner, BI Professional Services Team.

You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our client’s BI environments according to SLAs and best practices. You will monitor the health of the BI reporting infrastructure in order to ensure that it is running optimally and securely. You will also manage all aspects of the environment from data ingestion pipelines, reporting models to visualisations and user support. Your job will involve both day-to-day tasks as well as developing detailed technical knowledge of the MS Stack pertaining to Business Intelligence.

Requirements

Primary responsibilities include Incident and problem management

o Pro-active Tasks

• Reviewing Error Logs
• Managing Changes to the BI infrastructure and configuration
• Monitoring SSIS Packages, SSAS Cubes, SSRS Reporting, Power BI Reporting and Dashboards, Data Gateways
• Performance Tuning of the BI Environment

o Reactive tasks:

• Performing Root Cause Performance Analysis
• Troubleshooting User Problems
• Refreshing, updating Cube/s
• Deploying Scripts and Packages
• Creating and Updating Dashboards and Reports
• Managing Source Control Solution Artefacts
• Managing BI Solution Security
• Performance Monitoring
• Analysis Services (SSAS) Monitoring
• Reporting Services (SSRS) Monitoring
• Power BI Maintenance and Enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field experience required
• Experience and qualifications for the MS BI technology stack on cloud and on-premise
• An advantage would be if you have experience in the design and implementation of a BI project.
• Must have 2 years experience in the BI product(s) that you will be supporting.
• Ability to quickly assess existing data, test various data models and propose alternative approaches to solve business problems.
• Experience in database designs using relational technology, such as SQL Server, and other normalized data models.
• Knowledge of database integration solutions would be an advantage.
