As the Manager:
Data Science/AI at Capitec, you will lead the bank’s AI and advanced analytics initiatives, driving innovation and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your role will focus on defining and implementing a forward-thinking AI strategy while fostering a high-performing team of data scientists to deliver impactful AI/ML solutions aligned with business objectives.

You will be at the forefront of identifying AI-driven opportunities, overseeing the development and deployment of cutting-edge models, and ensuring alignment with ethical and compliance standards. By collaborating closely with stakeholders, you’ll help position Capitec as a leader in leveraging AI for business innovation and growth. Additionally, you’ll mentor your team to maintain high standards in AI/ML model quality and operational excellence, promoting a culture of continuous learning and data-driven innovation.

• Over 5 years in AI/ML model development and deployment, including 2 years as a manager or team lead within an analytical team.

Managing senior and executive level stakeholders and influencing decision making at these levels

• Using AI frameworks such as Tensor Flow and PyTorch to deploy with whilst using Python, SQL, Pyspark.
• Hands on experience integrating AI Models into applications and services.
• Big data frameworks – Hadoop/Kafka.
• Github experience or Git.

• AWS experience.

• Completed an Honors Degree or higher.
