Out of School Club Practitioner

We are seeking an engaging and enthusiastic practitioner to deliver play‑based learning for children aged 4‑11 during after‑school periods.

Responsibilities

Plan, organise and supervise engaging play sessions, support children’s social and emotional development, maintain a safe and welcoming environment, and communicate regularly with parents and staff.

Qualifications
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification
    or willingness to undertake First Aid training
  • Level 3 playwork, early years or childcare qualification (NVQ Level 3 Playwork or equivalent)
  • Safeguarding Awareness course
    or full safeguarding qualification
  • Level 2 playwork or childcare qualification (NVQ Level 2 Playwork) or working towards completion
Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 3 playwork qualification (NVQ Level 3 Playwork) or equivalent
  • Experience of playwork with children aged 4‑11 in a voluntary or paid capacity
Experience & Knowledge
  • Previous experience of playwork with children aged 4-11
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and playwork principles
  • Interest in the care, learning and development of young children
Skills & Aptitudes
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Ability to work calmly with children
  • Positive approach to inclusive practice with children, parents/carers and colleagues
  • Good organisational, planning and communication skills
  • Ability to use own initiative and remain calm in an emergency

  • Flexibility and adaptability
    and positive attitude
  • Patience, punctuality, reliability and trustworthiness
  • Enjoys working with children and is a team player
