Department Overview
Welcome to Electric Asset Management (EAM). We are responsible for electric system asset strategy, standards and procedures and risk management across Transmission, Distribution, and Substation asset families. Within EAM, the Distribution group delivers risk informed strategic planning and uses inspection insights and asset data to drive informed maintenance and investment decisions.
The Distribution Asset Risk Management (ARM) team-comprising Asset Failure Analysis (AFA), Asset Insights, and Inspections & Maintenance Strategy (I&M)-focuses on developing and continuously improving how PG&E monitors and maintains its assets to support a resilient, reliable grid and helps keep our communities safe.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of ARM, the Principal Program Manager will drive continuous improvement of ARM tools, processes, and technologies. This role collaborates extensively across the company and with external partners to evaluate new technologies, enhance operational efficiency, and integrate next generation solutions into I&M's core workflows. The ideal candidate is a datasavvy leader who thrives in fastpaced environments and seeks to make a meaningful impact on grid safety, resilience, and customer service.
The I&M team plays a critical role in managing over 2.3 million distribution wood poles and 80,000 circuit miles of primary conductor. We are continually improving on inspection procedures based on testing insights, failure analysis, and SME input. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic integrator and technology champion to deliver several transformative initiatives.
- Asset Health Monitoring Technology Enablement: With the development of innovative new sensors and A.I./LLMs, we are reimagining the traditional maintenance approach and assessing opportunities to implement additional touchpoints and/or "continuous monitoring" on some of our assets to reduce failures and safely extend life, and to redeploy O&M resources to more surgically target known risk. You will work with PG&E's various teams and 3rd party vendors to evaluate new technologies…
