About PESCM: Located in San Rafael, PESCM is the only 24/7 veterinary hospital in Marin County, offering specialties in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Urgent Care, Emergency, Radiology, and Critical Care. Responsibilities
- Oversee appointments and manage clients throughout their visit.
- Participate with the surgeon’s in‑patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
- Obtain and process laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine‑needle aspirates.
- Utilize different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment such as radiography and CT.
- Execute, induce, monitor, and recover all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
- Accurately calculate and deliver anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs.
- Review and understand all medical records pertinent to patient care.
- Provide empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients; act as a strong patient advocate during hospitalization.
- Maintain all equipment on a per‑use basis, ensuring safety and best practices.
- Provide extensive client communication and education upon patient admission and discharge regarding post‑operative care medications.
- Be available to work occasional holidays and overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with injectable and inhaled anesthetic agents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary specialty setting.
- RVT or VTS preferred but not required for the right candidate.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long‑term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community.
- Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun.
Salary: $30.00 – $36.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am – 6:30 pm.
Bonus: $3,000 for licensed technicians.
