Role OverviewResponsible for assisting the Payroll Manager with timely and accurate processing of the bi-weekly payroll for all U.S. employees and certain ex-U.S. employees while maintaining internal controls around timecard and payroll processing. The Senior Payroll Analyst provides specialized accounting services to U.S. personnel from Bio Marin’s corporate office, capturing activities of workers recording hours, processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, and calculating payrolls.
The candidate will have experience in payroll, reconciliation, and payroll/time & attendance reporting and analysis. The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills and good customer service when supporting employees.
Responsibilities- Perform all aspects of payroll under the supervision of the Payroll Manager to ensure payroll processing timelines are met.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all U.S. employees in the ADP Payroll system.
- Manage timecard module, including reporting and analysis and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain payroll internal controls; ensure proper procedures, policies, and rules are applied to payroll activities.
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of payroll.
- Manage leave of absence coordination within the time system.
- Assist with year-end processes, reconciliations, etc.
- Coordinate with Treasury and Finance to complete Work Comp accruals and audits.
- Ensure accuracy and timely distribution of W-2s with knowledge of relevant payroll tax rules and regulations.
- Review employee timecards and payroll registers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SOPs.
- Work with internal and external auditors as necessary.
- Perform ad hoc payroll-related research and analysis at the request of the Payroll Manager.
- Maintain an internal relationship with the Human Resources department, including mutual process dependencies and internal controls.
- Perform any ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Payroll scope: bi-weekly processing for approximately 2,200 U.S. employees and several international employees with multiple US tax jurisdictions.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Accounting, Finance or related field;
Payroll work experience preferred. CPP desirable. - 5-7+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in manufacturing, with experience in calculating shift differentials and RROP.
- Excellent organization, follow-through, and initiative.
Hybrid role – 2-3 days onsite in San Rafael, CA.
Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $75,200 to $103,400. Bio Marin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans. Benefits information is available to eligible employees.
