Healthcare Administration
One Medical is a primary care solution challenging the industry status quo by making quality care more affordable, accessible and enjoyable. We’re on a mission to transform healthcare, improving the experience for patients, providers, employers and health networks through in-office and 24/7 virtual care, on-site labs, and programs for preventive care, chronic care management, common illnesses and mental health concerns.
The Opportunity
As a One Medical Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist (Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant) at one of our offices, you’ll provide an exceptional patient experience by performing venipuncture and other clinical support services. You will be an ambassador for patients, help remove barriers to care, and ensure the lobby look and feel aligns with the One Medical experience. You will be the first point of contact for patients and provide support as requested by the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, or providers.
Flex team members support multiple offices.
You are a strong team player, using innovative problem solving to tackle tasks. You combine excellent specimen collection technique with tactful interpersonal skills in all patient interactions, including front desk and lab settings. You communicate clearly in writing and speech, identify opportunities, and deliver customer-centric solutions with empathy and compassion. You thrive in feedback-driven, growth-oriented cultures and are nimble in responding to patient and team needs.
You are driven to help and serve others and create positive moments for members and teammates.
What You’ll Likely Work On
- Use impeccable C-I-CARE in all patient interactions, ensuring a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, same-day schedule management, follow-up scheduling, knowledge of billing and insurance, monitoring patient feedback, and outreach as necessary.
- Provide best-in-class venipuncture services across age groups (pediatrics to geriatrics) depending on office location.
- Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
- Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
- Assist members beyond the lab by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and supporting providers and the virtual medical team with clerical duties (e.g., biometric screening forms, medical records, consult reviews, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting).
- Handle front-of-house duties including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, preparing tests, and meeting service level expectations.
- Contribute to team development through rounding, team huddles, problem solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad hoc requests.
- Perform opening and closing duties and maintain the look and feel of patient and employee spaces, restock supplies, and organize.
- Master our technology suite (Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, Ring Central, and our EMR) to interact with teammates and complete daily work.
These responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work and are not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned by management.
What You’ll Need
- At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of training/externship.
- Active phlebotomy certification to practice in CA.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, delivering customer-centric solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with computer technology, including typing, internet navigation, and using multiple software systems.
- Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (remote team experience a plus).
- Ability to demonstrate confidence and build trust during collection while delivering human-centered, patient-focused care.
- Proven ability to adapt to change, take initiative, and learn quickly in new situations.
