Job Description SummaryThe Medical Assistant works under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader to assist in the delivery of patient care. Responsibilities include gathering patient information, assessing requests, obtaining and monitoring vitals, assisting with procedures and processing instruments, and documenting all required information in the electronic medical record.
Responsibilities- Room patients, obtain vital signs, reason for visit, and document symptoms, frequency and severity.
- Provide courteous and compassionate care and communication.
- Document all required information in the electronic medical record, including meaningful use data, pay for performance data and ACO related information (Allscripts experience preferred).
- Administer injections, immunizations and other patient care services as ordered by the provider.
- Assist during medical procedures.
- Manage patient communications and correspondence including lab results, prescription management and referrals.
- Use electronic medical records and work off “task lists” to complete patient visits or requests.
- Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.
- Provide patients with accurate information when answering questions and concerns.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect patient records.
- Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
- Maintain patient areas and supplies; disinfect exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at end of the day.
- Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory.
- Answer telephones in a cheerful manner, schedule appointments, take messages, greet and check in patients, address and resolve patient requests and concerns.
- Process insurance verifications and authorizations, and assist patients in understanding insurance plans.
Education: High school diploma or GED certificate required.
Licenses/Certifications: Medical Assistant certification required; BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
Experience: At least one year of related medical‑assisting experience in a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Re‑processing/procedural experience is highly preferred.

CompensationPay range: $28.00–$36.41 per hour. Individual pay is set by skills, experience, qualifications and internal/market equity.
