Under general supervision of the District Engineer, this entry‑level Assistant Engineer performs a wide variety of civil engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the District’s wastewater treatment plant and related facilities. The role includes conducting studies, preparing and presenting technical and staff reports, and performing related work as assigned.
Incumbents perform less difficult and complex tasks in civil engineering and are expected to possess a valid Engineer‑in‑Training (E‑IT) certificate.
We seek a detail‑oriented professional eager to learn and adapt. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with technical tools, software, and design standards applicable to civil engineering, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in civil, mechanical, environmental, sanitary, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- One year of experience in a water treatment or wastewater treatment setting is desirable.
- Government agency work experience is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Engineer‑in‑Training Certificate issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
- Valid California driver’s license required.
- Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
