A Pediatric Dentist provides oral care and treatment for children from infancy through their teenage years. The Pediatric Dentist is expected to provide a quality pediatric.
Work ScheduleMondays from 8:00am - 5:00pm
Tuesday from 8:00am - Noon
Wednesdays from 8:00am - 9:30pm
Fridays from 8:00am - 5:00pm
Saturdays from 8:00am - 5:00pm
The salary range stated below is based on a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).
Responsibilities- Performing oral examinations and corrective care for children is the Pediatric Dentist’s core responsibility, including everything from dental exams and repairing cavities to diagnosing oral conditions and injuries and developing treatment plans.
- Habit counseling (for example, pacifier use and thumb sucking).
- Fabricates space maintainers designed for patients.
- Treat primary and secondary teeth and constructs and places bridges, dentures, and obturating appliances suitable for growing arches.
- Provide dental care to infants throughout teenage years.
- Diagnosing oral conditions associated with diseases such as diabetes, congenital heart defect, asthma, hay fever and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
- Management of gum diseases and conditions including ulcers, short frenulae, mucoceles, and pediatric periodontal disease.
- Care for dental injuries (for example, fractured, displaced, or knocked-out teeth).
- Work with parents and impart education about oral hygiene habits that last for a lifetime and help children to maintain their dental health.
- Advise parents of preventative dental health measures for their children and educate them on cleaning and flossing teeth.
- Provide dietary counseling and arrange for educational services for their communities.
- Provide significant pediatric dental health information.
- Risk assessment for dental ailments in both mother and child.
- Will use EPIC Electronic Health Records System and digital Dexis X-ray system.
- Delivers high quality care to patients.
- Delivers dental care to the pediatric special needs population as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Must possess an active DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited dental school with a license to practice in California.
- Current BLS certification is required.
- Valid DEA license required.
- Accredited pediatric dentistry residency completed; minimum two years of pediatric dentistry experience required.
- Prior experience working in community health environment a plus.
- EPIC Electronic Health Records experience a plus.

:
- Must know exactly how to put children at ease in what is often a stressful situation.
- Must be compassionate and patient.
- Proficient in taking digital x-rays.
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends as necessary in our San Rafael and/or Novato Clinics.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills to maintain and establish good relationships with dental team and patients.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced Community Health Clinic environment.
- Must be comfortable working in a multilingual/multicultural setting.
- Ability to mentor general dentists in the field of Pediatric dentistry.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
- Finger dexterity, steady arms and hands, a good near vision and the ability to discern reverse images.
- Prolonged standing, stooping twisting, bending and reaching.
- May be required to occasionally lift at least 20lbs - 25lbs.
