Software Engineer, New Grad San Mateo, CA

Software Engineer, New Grad at  IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions worldwide, is seeking new graduates passionate about technology and education. You will dive into our code base, immediately contribute to three highly impactful educational products, and build innovative features. We’re eager for you to join our San Mateo headquarters for an in‑person full‑time role, 5 days a week during the first six months of onboarding.

As a Software Engineer, you will build back‑end wiring, application logic, and UI that engage users. You’ll use the best technologies to add features and create new products, participating in design, coding, testing, debugging, and tuning. You’ll own projects from start to finish in a fast‑paced cycle and collaborate with other teams to design products that meet the needs of students and teachers worldwide.

Our server‑side stack includes Linux, Apache, Java, Scala, Python, and Oracle. For iOS app development, we use Swift. Front‑end code is written in JavaScript (including React, D3, and ES6). Technology choices vary by project and by your interests or specialization areas.

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline
• Excellent programming skills
• Strong analytical‑reasoning and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and with a wide variety of teams
• Knowledge of Unix, Python, Java, SQL, or JavaScript is a plus
• Passion for improving education through technology

The base salary range for this full‑time position is $110,000 to $135,000 plus equity and benefits. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
