General PurposeArea Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment while ensuring proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area at all times.
EssentialFunctions
- Maintain safe & secure environment: practice safe behaviors, keep sales floor safe and secure, correct unsafe conditions, secure building access, and test fire alarm systems.
- Customer service: treat all customers and Associates with respect, demonstrate courtesy and professionalism, and recognize Associates using company programs.
- Personal & store brand: represent and support the company brand, maintain a professional appearance, keep all areas clean and merchandised to standard, and remove daily trash.
- General merchandising: recover, size, and markdown merchandise to company standards; receive merchandise and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries; maintain stockroom cleanliness; and perform floor moves and re‑wraps.
- Loss prevention: maintain loss‑prevention awareness, safeguard confidential and cash information, and conduct code package inspections.
- Front end supervision and operations: maximize productivity, train cash register staff, manage break schedules, ensure equipment works, and teach “Scan and Bag” best practice.
- Fitting rooms: maintain cleanliness, audit tags, and ensure go‑back compliance.
- Administrative duties: conduct cash pulls and bank deposits, handle payroll and scheduling compliance, and perform other duties assigned by Store Manager.
- Competencies:
manage work processes, exhibit business acumen, plan, align, prioritize, build talent, collaborate, lead by example, communicate effectively, and ensure accountability & execution.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to use all store equipment, stand, walk, and move around the store, regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop, occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs, and use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
