Associate Scientist – Biology II

Type of Work: Only on W2 basis

Job Description:

• We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join Kite’s In Vivo Pharmacology team in Foster City and more specifically the group responsible to conduct ex vivo analyses related to in vivo studies in mice.
• The candidate will join an established group, playing a key role in providing a mechanistic understanding for in vivo pre-clinical studies in support of multiple programs utilizing engineered human chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR T cells).

Responsibilities:

• Characterization of immune parameters such as cell expansion and phenotype, from ex vivo blood samples from pre-clinical mouse studies with engineered human CAR T cells
• Process and analyze ex vivo blood samples through flow cytometry, molecular biology and other analytical techniques
• Check antigen expression by flow cytometry of tumor cell lines for use in in vivo studies
• Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
• Present and participate in project team meetings and cross-departmental team meetings

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree and 2+ years of scientific experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of scientific experience
• AA Degree and 5+ years of scientific experience
• High School Degree and 6+ years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS or BS in Biology or related discipline
• 3+ years of experience with multi-color flow cytometry and complex fluorochrome-conjugated antibody panels
• Immunology background, with experience in phenotypic analysis of multiple human immune cell populations and markers of activation/exhaustion
• Experience in data analysis software including Flow Jo, Graph Pad Prism and Client FACSDiva
• Experience in additional molecular biology techniques such as ddPCR
