Secunda Vita Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting solid organ transplant recipients—those who have received a liver, kidney, heart, or lung—through the empowering experience of sailing. By offering tailored classes, exciting events, and ambitious voyages, we inspire individuals to rebuild strength, foster resilience, and challenge limitations. The foundation is committed to raising awareness about transplant causes within the sailing world, while also fundraising to support patients, donors, and their families.

Role Description

This is a part-time remote Volunteer Board Member in San Mateo, CA. 5-10 hours a month commitment. As a Volunteer Board Member, you will collaborate with other board members and oversee the strategic direction, governance, and fundraising efforts of the foundation. Responsibilities include attending board meetings, participating in committee work, providing guidance to operations, helping to develop fundraising strategies, and acting as an advocate for the foundation’s mission.

You will also engage with the organization’s community and partners, contributing your expertise to sustain and grow the foundation's impact.

Qualifications
  • Strategic planning, decision-making, and leadership skills
  • Fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement experience
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and financial stewardship
  • Passion for the mission of supporting organ transplant recipients and their families
  • Previous experience in leadership roles or serving on nonprofit boards is an asset
  • Connections within the sailing or healthcare communities are beneficial
