The San Mateo County Event Center is a public assembly facility. This is an as-needed position, with shifts assigned according to event requirements, and there is no regular set schedule. A majority of the shifts are on weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions/ResponsibilitiesEssential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Flag cars into parking lot, direct customers where to park their cars.
- Interact with patrons and guest using excellent customer service skills.
- Maintains in good working order all inventory received such as radios, signage, flags, vests, flashlights, cones, delineators, bicycles, etc.
- Set parking equipment in locations in the lot as directed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Must be friendly with a clean and neat appearance.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain composure and to exercise sound judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good relations with guests and patrons.
- Requires being punctual, responsible, reliable, and dependable to fulfill job obligations.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work outside in all weather conditions.
- Able to perform tasks without direct supervision.
- Flexible schedule - the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the responsibilities of this position.

A majority of the work is outdoors and employee may be subject to various weather related environments.
The employee is frequently required to make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to speak, hear and see. Vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
