We are building a small team of versatile and enthusiastic leaders to create new products for the Play Station community. Our team recently delivered the new Play Station Link, PULSE Explore and PULSE Elite products, recently announced the Flex Strike and PULSE Elevate products, and are hard at work on what comes next. We need an experienced and innovative mechanical product design engineer to help develop new products and features.

• In this role, you contribute to the overall mechanical design for high‑profile product development efforts. This key engineer will be adept at hands‑on mechanical design, as well as working collaboratively with and guiding efforts of internal and external partners.
• Lead overall system mechanical design, including personally implementing and delivering detailed CAD of the primary architectural elements.
• Lead interactions with industrial design team.
• Manage the detailed product design and validation with engineering and manufacturing partners.
• Anticipate and respond to challenges in manufacturing.

• A technically strong and independent mechanical engineer with strong product design approach.
• Engaged at both the product design level (what should it do?) and the detailed engineering level (how should it be built?).
• Experienced with small consumer products and new product development from initial concept through mass production.
• Effective bridging from a small core team working with and within large organizations.
• Comfortable spanning from high‑level program strategy and management to detailed engineering implementation.
• Hands‑on capability in creative prototyping approaches to rapidly build low and high‑fidelity prototypes for design and functional assessment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience leading mechanical design for small consumer products.
• Demonstrated experience in designing detailed parts for a wide variety of manufacturing methods, such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and CNC fabrication.
• Demonstrated experience in applying knowledge of various materials and their properties for specific product features & requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis techniques, and creating 2D drawings.
• Demonstrated experience in reliability testing & analysis.
• Exceptional CAD proficiency (Solid Works preferred).
• Experience in the video game industry is not required, but interest and passion for gaming experience, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, and technology is vital.

Travel (primarily international) required. Estimated 15%.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$193,300 - $289,900 USD

In addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. This role also may be eligible for a bonus package.
