Position Purpose
The Vice President of Instruction is an Academic Administrator position reporting to the College President. Serving as the Chief Instructional Officer, the incumbent administers the overall coordination, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the College's curricula, instructional faculty and staff, activities, services, and facilities.
General Description
The Vice President of Instruction provides cabinet‑level leadership responsible for working collaboratively with the College's diverse stakeholders to develop and implement effective approaches to enhance academic excellence. The position is responsible for leadership in planning, administering, developing, coordinating, and evaluating the College's instructional programs and courses; instructional and instructional‑related policies, procedures, and mandates; the use of advanced technology systems in instruction;
the development of instruction that incorporates concepts of cultural proficiency; development and updating the College's Educational Plan; and working closely with the College President, the Vice President of Student Services, and Deans.

Educational Plan Leadership
Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate the college's instructional offerings to meet student, program, and enrollment needsCoordinate, direct, and support the activities of the instructional deans, directors, and staffSupervise and assist in the development of ongoing institutional publications, including the college catalog, class schedules, faculty handbooks, and state reporting documentsProvide leadership in responding to accreditation standards and college initiativesWork collaboratively with the Academic Senate and adhere to academic professional matters and the 10+1 policyParticipate collaboratively in College and District strategic planning, policy development, and resource allocationEnsure College compliance with accreditation standards, Title 5, and federal regulations related to instructional programs, services, and activitiesDirect and monitor the preparation of the College's schedule of classes based on student learning needs and program patterns; review the schedule development and ensure efficient use of classrooms, laboratories, and other instructional facilities; ensure that an appropriate balance of curriculum is offered to meet the needs of the diverse student populationProvide direction and support to help faculty and staff engage in meaningful assessment of student learning outcomesCollaborate with the Vice President of Student Services to maintain and foster a student‑centered model of educationProvide guidance to and receive advice from the Committee on InstructionAssist Institutional Research efforts related to areas of responsibilityReview and recommend conferences, field trips, leaves of absence, instructional improvement grant proposals, and other special faculty requestsFoster instructional and institutional effectiveness by undertaking other duties as necessary or as delegated by the College PresidentDistrict and Community Leadership
Provide leadership to align programs and staffing with community needs, student demographics, and program demandsDevelop and negotiate partnerships with corporations, businesses, community agencies, and educational institutions at all levelsAssist in developing and enhancing international student programs and successRepresent the college to professional organizations, governance entities, community groups, and prospective donors and friends of the collegeReview, monitor, and participate in shaping regional, statewide, and federal issues…
