Salary
Schedule:
Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Pending any course assignment, initial placement can range as follows:
- Lab Course (Salary Schedule HB) – $89.20 up to $130.94 per hour.
- Lecture Course (Salary Schedule AJ) – $103.85 up to $151.07.
Months Per Year: Semester assignments as needed
Mandated Reporter: Yes

Duties and Responsibilities
Teach courses from the Recycling and Resource Management Certificate of Achievement, including courses in Introduction to Recycling and Resource Management, Culture and Zero Waste, Resource Management and Zero Waste for Communities, and Resource Management and Zero Waste in BusinessConsult with students during regularly scheduled office hoursWork with other environmental technology faculty to maintain program standardsWork in cooperation with industry sponsors and advisory committees to ensure currency of curriculum and trainingEngage in indirect instruction, including advertisement, recruitment, and retention activitiesAssist in curriculum revisions and new course development, including student learning outcomes and their assessmentParticipate in the development and/or selection of course materials, equipment, and technology that will enhance offerings of the departmentMaintain expertise in current technologiesEmployment Standards (acquired through education, training, and/or experience)
Knowledge of:
Successful teaching techniques that engage students in their own learning and promote development of critical thinking skillsSkills and AbilitiesDemonstrate successful teaching experience in an environmental technology programTeach courses related to recycling and resource managementWork with recycling and resource management trades and job apprenticeship councilsBe aware of career opportunities in the recycling and resource management sector and local labor marketCommit to maintain currency in the discipline through research, creative activities, professional associations, and services related to the recycling and resource management industryUse instructional methods that emphasize cooperation, collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and interdisciplinary approachesHave enthusiasm for, understanding of, and commitment to the role and purpose of the community collegeMotivate students from a broad spectrum of cultural, socioeconomic, and language backgroundsDevelop instructional learning outcomes and assess students' achievement of those outcomesJob Requirements
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree AND two years of recycling and resource management work experience OR an Associate degree AND six years of recycling and resource management work experience OR the equivalent (see below)
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practice both within and outside of the classroom.
