Staff Accountant

Description

Remote Staff Accountant role available! As the Staff Accountant, you will support daily accounting operations with a focus on transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial data accuracy. This role is ideal for a professional looking to build a strong foundation in capital expenditures, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Expenditures (Cap Ex)

+ Assist with processing capital purchase orders and vendor invoices

+ Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation

+ Maintain basic capital asset and project tracking schedules

+ Assist with budget vs. actual comparisons and variance support

Tax Abatement & Incentive Support

+ Assist with maintaining schedules related to tax abatements or incentives

+ Reconcile abatements to general ledger balances under supervision

+ Organize and retain supporting documentation

Commissions & Accrual Support

+ Assist with commission calculations based on approved plans

+ Help prepare commission accrual support and documentation

+ Escalate discrepancies for review

General Ledger & Close Support

+ Prepare basic journal entries with review and approval

+ Perform assigned balance sheet reconciliations

+ Support month-end and year-end close activities

+ Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely

Controls & Learning

+ Follow established accounting policies and procedures

+ Support audit requests by gathering documentation

+ Participate in process improvement and training initiatives

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

+ 2+ years experience

+ Basic understanding of GAAP principles

+ Proficiency in Excel (formulas, reconciliations)

+ Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
