Position: Assistant Store Leader for - San Marcos, TX, US - location

Job Title

Associate Store Leader (Manager)

Primary Purpose

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in retail to drive business growth, achieve store productivity targets, and model a high‑performing selling environment. They will serve as a client & service expert, educating employees on the Kate Spade New York brand aesthetic, maintaining brand consistency, and ensuring optimal visual merchandising. The role includes operational excellence, people management, and continuous improvement of store standards.

Responsibilities
  • Client & Service Expert: Develop initiatives that build repeat business or attract new customers; communicate and achieve store productivity metrics (sales per hour, ADT, UPT, capture rate); ensure completion of sales training and product knowledge development; coach the sales training process to drive customer service and sales.
  • Leadership Presence / Steward of Talent: Assist the SSL/Area Leader in financial performance; assume SSL role during manager absences; lead by example with personal sales goals; educate the team on product, sales plans, and measurable stats; coach on metrics; network within the community to fill open positions; manage open positions via iCIMs; onboard new team members through a 30/60/90 touch‑base; conduct performance reviews and collaborate with HR as needed.
  • Building Brand Equity: Communicate the brand philosophy and lifestyle to staff and customers; uphold brand and operating standards; implement visual merchandising directives; report sell‑through, stock position, business trend, product issues, and customer feedback to senior leadership.
  • Operational Excellence: Perform opening & closing procedures (register counts, bank deposits, asset security); manage payroll budget, scheduling, and adjustments; enforce loss‑prevention policies and conduct self‑audits; process POS transactions accurately; collaborate with warehouse for markdowns and merchandise flow; maintain office cleanliness.
Qualifications
  • Professional sales development and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with effective communication across all levels.
  • Ability to analyze selling reports, identify trends, and react swiftly to business needs.
  • Comfortable making decisions and mediating conflict in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows‑based software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in a comparable retail environment.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Prior luxury goods experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Work store schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Safely lift boxes up to 40 lb.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders.
