Oncology Nurse, RN Nurse
Overview
Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) – full‑time, Monday – Friday 8:30am to 5pm, no weekends, calls, or major holidays. This position can be Level 1, 2, or Sr based on experience. The role supports the San Marcos location at Texas Oncology, the largest community oncology provider in the country, and is responsible for delivering professional nursing care for infusion patients while adhering to national standards, company guidelines, and the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)LTIP is an incentive program vesting over a three‑year period, tied to performance and operational success. Awards are discretionary, reviewed during the annual compensation review, and continue only if employment persists through payment.
Key responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time and technique.
- Ensure pre‑authorization and consent forms are obtained before therapy administration.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient labs, consulting protocol, calculating dose, and consulting physician.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheters.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Level 1:
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program (BSN preferred).
- RN state license and current registration.
- 0–3 years nursing experience, preferably one year in oncology.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Level 2 (extra requirements):
- 3–5 years nursing experience.
- Oncology certification preferred.
- Level Sr (additional requirements):
- 5 years nursing experience.
Physical Requirements
The work environment includes exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, medical preparations, and conditions common to an oncology clinic. Physical demands include full range of motion, handling and lifting up to 40 lb, standing and walking for extended periods, and manual/finger dexterity.
