The Department of Sociology at Texas State University (San Marcos, TX) invites applications for a full‑time lecturer position beginning fall 2026. The university has a teaching track that includes promotion; this hire would be at the rank of Professor of Instruction. The main teaching need to be fulfilled is the ability to teach Introduction to Sociology and elective courses for the Minor in Aging and the Life Course.
The applicant will also be responsible for serving as the Director for the Master’s in Dementia and Aging online program. The teaching load is a 3‑3 teaching load. A course release is provided each semester for the Director position.
- PhD in sociology completed by August 2026.
- Record of successful teaching in Introduction to Sociology.
- Administrative experience managing undergraduate or graduate programs related to health, aging, and/or dementia.
- Experience teaching large face‑to‑face sections (approximately 100 students) of Introduction to Sociology.
- A cover letter that includes a statement on teaching philosophy and teaching effectiveness.
- Current/proposed Introduction to Sociology syllabus.
- Unofficial transcripts (all in one document).
- The names of three references (letters of reference are not requested at this time).
The selected candidate will be required to provide official transcripts from all degree‑granting universities.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
