Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Knowledge of:
    State laws regarding vehicle inspections; shop equipment safety; vehicle repair procedures; and basic math.
  • Skill in:
    Interacting courteously with others.
  • Ability to:
    Understand written instructions; read and interpret technical manuals; communicate effectively; and use basic auto mechanic tools and shop equipment.
  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with automotive mechanic tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Experience tracking maintenance work using a computer program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical/Vocational training ( ASE certifications)
  • Golf Cart/Utilities Vehicle diagnosis and repair
  • Associate’s degree in automotive related field
Job Description

The Auto Mechanic is responsible for basic vehicle maintenance and repair of the fleet as needed or required.

Job Duties
  • Provides automotive diagnostics, repair, and routine maintenance.
  • Handles work-order documentation, parts requisitioning, and inventory duties.
  • Controls the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of various automotive components.
  • Performs skilled work such as engine performance diagnosis, repair, and tune-ups; vehicle preventive maintenance servicing; and various other repairs and maintenance of all University vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs vehicle state inspections.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
