Overview

The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is to develop professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct health science students in information literacy skills including evidence-based practice and the research process.
  • Create instructional materials in multiple formats (videos, online tutorials, resource guides, Blackboard classes, etc.) for use by students, residents, faculty, and staff.
  • Lead library instruction efforts and planning in collaboration with faculty and Program Directors.
  • Conduct classes and workshops for students, faculty, and staff on the use of medical, nursing, and other health sciences-related services and resources.
  • Collaborate with faculty and library staff to plan, deliver, and assess library and instructional services.
  • Provide innovative evidence-based practice and information literacy instruction.
  • Perform advanced subject-specific professional library work in graduate disciplines at USAHS.
  • Support inclusive and representative programming and services that meet USAHS strategic priorities.
  • Engage in bibliographic searches and the library’s evidence synthesis review service, including systematic reviews.
  • Consult with graduate students and faculty on research projects.
  • Assess library needs of health science students, faculty, researchers, and clinicians.
  • Train patrons on electronic resources and citation management tools (Pub Med/MEDLINE, Pro Quest, CINAHL, Cochrane, Nursing, Dyna Med, etc.).
  • Serve as Library Liaison with designated departments.
  • Advise on compliance with the Scholarly Skills Community.
  • Advise on depositing publications, data sets, and research output into SOAR@USA research information hub.
  • Awareness of innovative technologies such as 3D Printers, Virtual Reality, and others.
  • Maintain collection development policies and procedures.
  • Guide inclusive and representative programming and services that meet USAHS strategic priorities.
  • Direct activities of the library services desk and manage physical library space.
  • Train and supervise the Assistant Librarian and part-time student library workers.
  • Proctor exams and orient new students to library services and collections.
  • Maintain borrower records, notify students of outstanding fines, and collect monies.
  • Enforce all library policies and procedures and meet regularly with other library staff to enhance the library experience.
Qualifications
  • Master’s in Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from an ALA accredited program.
  • Two or more years of library experience, preferably in a health sciences library or health care environment, including reference, online literature searching, acquisitions/collection development, cataloging, and instructional services.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Assistant Librarian (where applicable) and Student workers (where applicable).

Travel Requirements

May be required to travel.

Compensation

HIRING RANGE: $70,304 - $83,160
