The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at California State University San Marcos seeks a part‑time lecturer for the Bachelor of Cybersecurity program to teach CY 472:
Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity. This 16‑week course will be taught online‑synchronously, from Jan 20 to May 8 2026, on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30‑6:45 p.m.
Covers a broad introduction to the key ideas of artificial intelligence used in the cybersecurity domain. Introduces the basics of AI algorithms, methods, and tools for malware detection, vulnerability detection, and emerging threat detection. Provides tools and skills to future security professionals to understand AI and develop better cybersecurity solutions utilizing state‑of‑the‑art AI models.
Enrollment RestrictionsEnrollment is restricted to students in the Cybersecurity major.
Qualifications- A bachelor’s degree and experience teaching, or equivalent practical experience in Cybersecurity using a variety of technologies and tools
- Communication and presentation skills
- Course design ability (design a well‑structured syllabus and select appropriate course materials)
- Continuous learning and adaptability (commitment to staying updated with latest techniques and developments)
- Per the California State University’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU‑related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
- A master’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent industry experience
- Experience teaching, either as a course instructor or teaching assistant, especially in topics related to Cybersecurity or mentoring students/employees in tools and technologies used in Cybersecurity
- Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
- Anticipated Hiring Salary: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
- CSU Classification Salary: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
