Facilities Maintenance Mechanic - Facilities Management and Development

Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four interdependent support departments:
Customer & Business Services;
Energy, Utilities & Sustainability;

$73,812.00 – $86,484.00 per year

• Operate, test, install, repair, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on mechanical facilities equipment and systems including HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Perform electrical maintenance and repair work including low‑voltage control systems.
• Use computerized maintenance systems and building automation systems to ensure preventive maintenance program objectives are met.
• Perform a wide range of facilities renovation, maintenance, and repair work.

Four years of increasingly responsible experience leading to journey‑level skills in a mechanical or facilities/building trade, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as a facilities and systems mechanic. This demonstrates the achievement of journey‑level skills equivalent to those acquired through completion of an applicable apprenticeship program.

Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain it by date of hire. The position may require AHERA Supervisor certification for asbestos‑related work, Cal/OSHA Lead training, and the ability to wear respiratory protection. A Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation is required prior to respirator use.

Salary range: $73,812 – $86,484 per year.
