Equipment Mechanic I/II
Fleet Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Mechanic I/II to join our team. This position is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a variety of light and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Equipment Mechanic I Responsibilities- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks, tractors, power shovels, mowers, motor graders, loaders, rollers, etc.
- Tear down, replace, reassemble transmissions and differentials; rebuild hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Reline and adjust brakes; weld, fabricate steel components.
- Conduct safety inspections on golf carts; change and repair tires.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and order repair parts.
- Operate truck and other motorized equipment as required.
- Inspect, lubricate, service, and locate mechanical defects in trucks, tractors, mowers, motor graders, loaders, rollers and other construction/grounds equipment.
- Perform major and minor mechanical repairs, including general overhauls.
- Tear down, replace, and reassemble mechanical assemblies; repair hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Replace and adjust brakes on vehicles and equipment; overhaul and sharpen mower cutting units.
- Conduct safety inspections on golf carts, heavy trucks, cranes and electrical equipment.
- Change and repair tires; weld and fabricate steel components.
- Operate trucks and other motorized equipment; maintain records and order parts.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of journey worker experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of automotive and construction equipment, including arc and gas welding (Equipment Mechanic I).
- Three years of experience in the same duties, including arc and gas welding (Equipment Mechanic II).
- Valid California driver’s license (Class
A) required at appointment and must be maintained; licenses must be maintained throughout employment. - ASE certification or other recognized automotive service excellence certification preferred.
