• Perform duties related to cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products.
• Cut, platters, and merchandise products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
• Prepare specialty meat merchandise (e.g., sausage, oven-ready products, and cured meats).
• Check products to ensure they meet WFM quality standards.
• Maintain sampling programs and monitor/assist in preventing spoilage.
• Mentor and support assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs promptly, and model suggestive selling techniques.
• Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously; maximize sales through proper prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of products.
• Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working/shopping environment; keep equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

• 14+ months retail experience.
• Successful completion of the WFM Butcher Apprentice Program, or an equivalent training program.
• UK exceptions may apply.

• Working understanding of Meat team processes and procedures.
• Excellent cutting skills with the ability to break down products into sub-primal and retail cuts.
• Extensive knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques of meat and seafood.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
• Ability to access market information and communicate it to customers.
• Strong to excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to deliver information clearly to team members, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to meet customer service expectations in all interactions.
• Ability to follow directions, with effective time management and organization skills.
• Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency.
• Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Stand/walk 6–8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
• Hand use: grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work may involve bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures (including freezing and cold environments).
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment; handle knives and other cutting equipment.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to use tools and equipment, such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
