Position Overview
The Bean Lab at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo seeks a postdoctoral fellow to support multiple research projects related to ungulate spatial population ecology in California. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Research ProjectsThe primary project will assess the impacts of developed water sources on pronghorn and other wildlife in the Carrizo Plain using a combination of remote cameras, GPS collars, and visual transect surveys. A secondary project, contingent upon additional funding, will investigate wildlife responses to highway under-crossings in Tehachapi, CA using similar methodologies.
Responsibilities- Coordinate data collection with undergraduate students and external partners (State, Federal, and non-profit organizations).
- Lead data analysis, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Mentor undergraduate students involved in the project.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- PhD in wildlife ecology, wildlife management, or a related field.
- Strong data management and analytical skills, including the ability to characterize animal movement and estimate populations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Compliance with background checks and mandated reporting requirements.
