About the Position

About the Position The County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency is seeking a self‑motivated, qualified professional to fill the position of Nurse Practitioner at the Juvenile Services Center (JSC). This recruitment will remain open until filled; apply by September 21st for first review. Under supervision of a licensed physician, in accordance with established protocol and as allowed under a State of California Nurse Practitioner, the candidate will perform physical and psychosocial assessments;

establish medical diagnoses; order and evaluate diagnostic tests; manage follow‑up care; respond to emergencies in the facility to administer care; coordinate with mental health and probation department staff on multi‑disciplinary discharge planning; and oversee the work of registered nurse staff.

In addition to the advertised compensation for this classification, the Nurse Practitioner assigned to the JSC will receive an additional $4.00 per hour for hours worked in the JSC facility, plus differential pay for standby and evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education and experience required to receive and maintain a license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Registration as a Nurse Practitioner from the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Licenses and Certificates

Pursuant to Section 2835 of the California Business and Professions Code, possession of a license to practice as a Registered Nurse and registration as a Nurse Practitioner from the California Board of Registered Nursing is required at time of application and must be maintained throughout employment.
