Sheriff's Compliance Program Manager I​/II

Overview

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office is seeking a collaborative and versatile professional to join their team as a Program Manager working as part of a Compliance Unit to ensure compliance with varying and numerous statutes governing corrections, correctional health care, and re-entry services. The Program Manager would work in tandem and cross-train with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) manager, reporting to the Sheriff’s Chief Medical Officer and in-turn directly to the Sheriff to ensure direct communication in resolving any potential issues.

The position will work closely with Custody leadership in developing practices and would be assigned within the county jail.

Ensuring compliance requires creating, modifying, and implementing policies and procedures, implementation of staff training, management of confidential and public records, monitoring trends in legislation and current litigation, auditing work, and functioning as a liaison with County Counsel on legal issues involving the Sheriff’s Office. A comprehensive understanding, or proven ability to gain understanding, of legal standards, legislation, and litigation as it pertains to a Correctional environment is valuable.

Strong reporting and analytical skills as they relate to process management are also valuable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:

Program Manager I: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a program related field. In addition, two years performing supervisory, administrative, analytical or fiscal work in a program related field.

Program Manager II: One year of experience equivalent to Program Manager I.

Licenses and Certificates:

Certain positions within this classification may require driving. When driving is an essential function of the position a valid California driver’s license will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
